Gold in National Combined Events

Success at National Combined Events, Grangemouth.

 

Twelve year old Annan Academy pupil Nicole Proudfoot who competes for Annan and District Athletics Club took part in The Scottish National Age Group Combined Events Championships in Grangemouth last weekend. This was Nicole’s first outdoor pentathlon and she performed brilliantly with three personal bests set in the competition.

                  Her first event of the day was high jump where she finished fourth, second event of the day was 70m hurdles where she set her first personal best of the day and finishing seventh in a very fast heat. Next was Nicole’s strongest event long jump where she jumped another personal best  and finished first, she then moved onto shot putt  where she finished second .Her last event of the day was 800m where she set another personal best and finished second. All her performances were converted into points and her total was 2416 making her in first place which was 70 points ahead of the girl in second place and 142 points ahead of the girl in third place.

                 Nicole has worked very hard since February where she competed in the indoor Pentathlon at the Emirates Stadium and finished  fifth.
